Dedicated Plans Explanation
When we talk about web hosting servers, there are three principal types - shared web hosting web servers, VPS (private virtual hosting servers) and dedicated servers. Shared web hosting servers accommodate lots of clients and hence the resources per account are limited, VPS plans give you more server configuration freedom, but also influence other Virtual Private Servers on the hardware node if used imprudently, and dedicated servers offer you the liberty to do everything you decide without meddling with anyone else.
Why would you need a dedicated server?
Dedicated servers are usually much more expensive than shared web servers or Virtual Private Servers. Why would anyone, then, want to use them? The reply is quite simple. If your firm has a large web portal, or simply has very specific server configuration requirements, the most logical option is a dedicated server. For someone who is prepared to invest in safety and stability, the bigger price is not a concern. You are bestowed with complete server root access and can utilize 100% of the dedicated web hosting server's system resources without anyone else sharing these system resources and interfering with your web pages.
Hardware specs
The majority of hosting companies, incl. us at Sreda Top, offer several different hardware architectures you can select from as per your requirements. The hardware architectures offer different types of processors, a different number of cores, different RAM memory and server hard disk drive sizes and different traffic allowances. You can select a hosting CP, which is a convenient GUI if you want to use the hosting server for website hosting purposes solely and choose not to resort to an SSH console for all the modifications you will be making. We offer three sorts of hosting CP software - Hepsia, DirectAdmin and cPanel.
The hosting Control Panel of your choice
If you are a confident Linux user (our dedicated hosting web servers are running on Linux or other Unix-based Operating Systems), you could manage your dedicated server via a Secure Shell console only. That, however, could be awkward, particularly if you decide to grant full root-level access to someone else who has less technical proficiency than yourself. That is why having web hosting CP software activated is an excellent idea. The Hepsia Control Panel GUI that we offer does not offer root privileges and is mainly suitable for somebody who owns multiple web sites that require lots of resources, but would like to administer the sites, databases and electronic mails via a user-friendly web hosting CP. The DirectAdmin and cPanel web hosting CPs, on the other hand, grant full root access and include 3 levels of access - root, reseller and user. If you intend to resell hosting packages instead of utilizing the web hosting server only for yourself, you should select one of these two.
Web server monitoring and backup procedures
Last but not least, there is the issue of monitoring the dedicated server and of backing it up. In the event of a predicament with your server, such as an unresponsive Apache or a network outage, it is desirable to have some kind of monitoring system activated. Here at Sreda Top the system administrators monitor all dedicated servers for ping timeouts, and, if you have a Managed Services package, they monitor the individual services on the dedicated server too. Backups are also an extra feature - the web hosting services provider offers you data backups on our own backup web servers. You could select a kind of RAID that would permit you to have the very same data on two server disk drives as a protective measure in the event of a hard drive failure, or in case someone whom you have given access deletes something by mistake.
